Owain Davis, Lesson 2 , 23/09/15

Banner Poster & Ghostly images-

We started off the lesson with photo shopping a person onto a background image. We was needed to make the person blurred to make them look ghostly onto the background. I found this easy as I pick up the skills easily as I'm interested in Photoshop so i am very confident with applying the effects done today.
Here was my first image where i was grasping the idea of doing the effect which turned out decent.
This wasn't the best image to have produced but it was my first time and was okay in my opinion. I don't like how i did a mistake and there is a white splodge of white near the ghostly images head as i cut the background out by accident as i was on the wrong layer whilst trying to crop. I know what i did wrong and I know how to improve the image so it wont happen again.

Then when i did my second image it turned out much better as i knew what i had to do and i was proud of the outcome of the image. For this i had to paste the background image onto layer 1 and then paste the human image onto layer 2. I then went onto layer 2 and used the quick selection tool and cropped out the white background and only selected the man. I then moved and altered the size of the image and moved it so it then looked like the photographer was taking a picture of the ghostly image. I then altered the color to black and white. After this i then edited the blur on the image by going to the 'filter' tab at the top and then going down to the blur option. I clicked that and then Gaussian blur and this was my outcome. I can easily do this effect again without struggling if i was to do it again.

I then created the 3rd image in tutorial which i followed the same procedure as before and i quickly threw it together.

We then photo shopped a banner that included loads of different steps. I found it easy to follow the steps but i got stuck along the way as my image mode was in grayscale but i managed to sort that out.
This is what my banner looks like.
In order to make this first of all i started the layer 1 with making the rectangle by using the rectangle tool. I then used the anchor point tool and clicked the middle of both sides of the rectangle. I then altered them to make the curved effect.
I then made layer 2 and held shift whilst using the rectangle tool in order to make the square.  I then clicked the direct selection tool and then halved the square. Once i finished that I duplicated the layer so i could have two triangles to make the banner. I then had to flip the triangles horizontally and move them underneath the rectangle. I then changed the gradient color by clicking the triangles and then going through settings and changed the color to make the effect of the color fading halfway in the shape. I then made layer 3 and added text to the banner and changed the size and font of the text. After this i held shift and clicked on all the layers i had there and then i linked them together to be one image. I then made layer 4 and used the paint bucket tool and made the background orange and i then changed the settings of the gradient color so i could use the purple effect along the bottom. I was going to get started on adding a freaky image but didn't get enough time to edit it. I  did this task independently and found it very easy to grasp.
